PORTRAIT COMMISSIONS

Portraiture has always held a special interest for me.  My goal is to capture the intangible qualities of the subject in addition to their likeness.  I want others to be able to gaze at the portrait and be transported into the moment.

FIGURATIVE PORTRAITS

Figurative language means to depart from a literal use of words; metaphorical. In my figurative paintings the subjects are integrated with their surroundings. Some backgrounds are abstracted; others are landscapes. They dissipate like an intangible thought or memory. This leads to an ethereal and poetic painting that will create a truly unique portrait.

BABY PORTRAITS

Baby portraits are created on a small scale to capture the tiny newness of an infant child.  We quickly forget just how little they were.

MONOCHROMATIC PORTRAITS

Monochromatic portraits are created in oil with a limited palette. The effect can be both timeless and nostalgic.

CHARCOAL PORTRAITS

Charcoal is a wonderfully versatile medium.  It allows for expressive mark making that compliments the controlled rendering and details of the portrait.  Charcoal drawings must be framed behind glass to protect the artwork.

FORMAL COMMISSION

Formal or Corporate commissions create an entirely different experience.  It is important to discuss how the subject wants to present themselves as well as anything they may want to include that has personal or professional significance.

LANDSCAPE COMMISSIONS

Landscape paintings can transport you to a favorite location or inspire a memory of a specific place.  A landscape painting also can be a tribute to the memory of a person or people that you associate with that place in the same way that a portrait painting can be.

Commission paintings are priced using a variety of factors starting with a calculation based on the size.  Other considerations include the medium, the complexity of the subject, additional elements like the background and special items or mementos.  The addition of people or pets will affect the total depending on the complexity and size of each subject. For example, a single full-color portrait that is 18" x 24" would start at $2,975 and 24" x 36" would start at $4,935.
